bike setup changes for '07

after a very short discsussion, xtr groupo is on the 07 build up's. i am opting for the pods because i am a pod kind of guy - really liked the sram, but the availability to get shimano at any random race location is much greater then sram.

forks will stay the same.

wheels will be built up again by george at the goat - dt 240's with stan's stupid light rims and double butted spokes with alloy nips. hells ya.

rest of the components... waiting to hear back on a few things, but all i can say is that it will be different and lighter then last year.

that's it - gotta run. big ride tonight in the 40 degree balmy weather of ohio has left me very tired at the end of a long week.

sologoat out

how about an opinion...24hrs of conyers or 24 hrs of big bear???

thanks

that depends - i like both courses.

big bear:
longer of the two courses, lap times are a little over an hour. classic WV course, nothing too crazy. one very short section that you will probably have to walk. modern hotels/food places are at least 15-20 miles away, camping is available. and, no electricity, so you better bring a generator. like this course better of the two as i consider it my "hometown" course and is in the state where i got my start in 24 hour racing.

conyers:
shorter course in basic figure 8. nice because you can get lots of feeds and are near the pits, but also bad because you do so many laps. got around 26'ish laps last time i raced here. 2nd half of course has a ton of rock, very huge long sections of it, with short steep climbs. not very friendly to single speeds or rigids. modern hotel/eating places are super close.

if just starting 24 hour racing, i would suggest conyers. the shorter loops gets you more options for support/food and makes it a little easier on support. and, being in the south, the temps tend to be a little warmer as well, but the temps can get cold at night! (worlds dipped down to the lower 40's!)

Thanks for the lowdown. Conyers happened to be the race that i was thinking of.
Good luck this coming year
